HQI’s Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Learning Community, funded by the California Health Care Foundation, is continuing to provide vital programming and resources to more than 148 California hospitals, aligned with the requirements of Assembly Bill 3032 (Frazier).
Monthly webinars and group office hours are generating great discussion and the sharing of helpful strategies. Beyond the core themes of staff education, resource development, and patient and family information, these events have covered a range of other relevant topics including: the impact of COVID-19 on hospitals and birthing families, disparities in perinatal mental health care, supporting patients with perinatal loss, supporting NICU families, and the intersects of birth trauma and substance use disorders with perinatal mental health. Remaining topics to be covered in 2021 include child abuse reporting, breastfeeding, and supporting fathers and partners — all in the context of relating to perinatal mental health.

The PMH Learning Community is pleased to announce two regional in-person Capstone Events being planned for December, pandemic conditions permitting. These events will round out the learning and celebrate our collective achievements in improving maternal mental health.
- A Dec. 8 Capstone Event for Northern California hospitals will be hosted by Mercy San Juan Medical Center.
- A Dec. 10 Capstone Event for Southern California hospitals will be hosted by San Antonio Regional Hospital.
