Asma has over 15 years of administrative coordinator experience, including ten years supporting executives. Her experience includes data management, project coordination, documentation control, research and reporting. In CHPSO, Asma will help develop and maintain the CHPSOData and assist as tech support for members utilizing the platform. Asma also supports HQI and CHPSO with member contracts and database management, presentation development, coordinate webinars, safe tables, and continuing education credits.
Candice Cam joined HQI in 2020 as a Data Analyst. She has a background in Applied Mathematical Sciences with a Computer Science Emphasis from the University of California, Merced. Her experience includes data management, data analytics, research and reporting. In HQI, Candice will help develop and maintain the Hospital Quality Improvement Platform (HQIP) and assist as tech support for members utilizing the platform.
Vivian earned a BSN from UCSF and began a career in ER Nursing. After working in acute care for 13 years and during the dot com period, she became interested in IT. She has over a decade of experience in Programming, Reporting and Data Analytics and Informatics. Her current role as “Patient Safety Clinical Advisor” in CHPSO is the perfect harmony of “clinical” and “analytics” and where translating clinical practice information and improving patient care intersect.
Imhoff joins HQI after heading the Maryland Patient Safety Center for seven years. As President and CEO there, he successfully partnered with hospitals to lead multiple improvement efforts, including their perinatal/neonatal quality collaborative, sepsis mortality reduction, falls reduction, and one of the most rigorous hand hygiene compliance programs in the nation. He also led efforts to pilot both an emotional support program for health care providers called “Caring for the Caregiver” and a patient safety certification program for hospitals.
Boris Kalanj has been with HQI since 2014 and currently serves as Director of Programs. He leads HQI’s programming in maternal health and health disparities; and serves as the operational lead for BETA HEART, HQI’s partnership with BETA Healthcare Group on a multi-year program to guide hospitals through the process of implementing a reliable, sustainable and transparent culture of safety.
Boris’ background includes leadership in the design and direction of patient experience programs in public and private hospital systems, and leading organizational strategies in diversity, language access, cultural competence, and care equity. He previously worked as Director of Programs at California Health Care Safety Net Institute, Director of Cultural Care at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, and a social worker at the Center for Victims of Torture in Minneapolis.
Boris has a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
Scott Masten joined HQI in 2016 to help develop the Hospital Quality Improvement Platform (HQIP) data warehouse and advance our data processing, analysis, and reporting capabilities, as well as provide statistical consulting, program evaluation, and education for member hospitals.
Tim has 34 years of in-depth experience in information technology across many knowledge domains. That expertise includes a focus on databases, system performance, virtualization, security, and programming. He has written dozens of management and monitoring tools and maintains 11 professional and technical certifications. Tim supports the CHPSO application/database pipeline and helps keep the larger Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) back-end infrastructure running properly.
Ms. Slininger has more than 35 years of experience in healthcare Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Risk Management, Infection Control, and Team Building- helping providers improve processes and outcomes. Facilitating peer-to-peer learning between healthcare teams, she has led several Collaboratives in the state of California, focused on a variety of goals including Patient Safety, Infection Prevention, Surgical Care Improvement, Readmissions Reduction and Team Communications.
